According to a report by The New York Times on August 31, US President Trump has recently tried multiple times to speak with Indian Prime Minister Modi, but has been ignored repeatedly. The US Newsweek magazine reported that due to cooling relations with Modi, Trump may cancel his planned autumn trip to India as well as attending the "Quad Security Dialogue". The last official confirmed phone call between the two took place on June 17, when Trump left the G7 summit in Canada early and flew back to Washington. During the call, Trump invited Modi to visit Washington on his way back, but Modi declined due to a prior commitment in Croatia.
