Chengdu police: a man was detained for generating and publishing false articles involving multiple schools using an AI tool.

On August 29, the Jin Niu District Branch of the Chengdu Public Security Bureau in Sichuan Province issued a police report: Recently, our bureau received reports reflecting the existence of multiple untrue articles about the education sector in our city on a certain online platform. Our bureau immediately conducted an investigation in accordance with the law. It was found that the person in charge of a certain education consulting company, Mr. Yu, generated multiple false articles involving several schools in our city through AI tools and published them on the internet platform in order to increase followers and traffic, and to improve the performance of his company for commercial purposes. This behavior misled public understanding, disrupted normal social order, caused anxiety among some parents and students, and had a negative social impact. Mr. Yu's actions have constituted fabricating facts, disrupting public order, and violating Article 25(1) of the Law on Administrative Penalties for Public Security, and he has now been administratively detained by the public security organs in accordance with the law.
