Douyin continues to crack down on pornographic content and illegal activities: this year, it has already banned 890,000 accounts and cooperated with the police to arrest 66 criminal suspects.

On August 29th, Douyin released a notice titled "Notice on Continuing to Crack Down on 'Pornographic and Vulgar' Content". The notice stated that Douyin strictly prohibits users from spreading obscene and pornographic content through short videos, live streams, group chats, profiles, or any other forms, or from inducing others to engage in pornographic transactions on third-party platforms or provide offline pornographic services. Once any suspected illegal activities are discovered, the platform will proactively report them to the authorities. As of 2025, Douyin has indefinitely suspended 890,000 accounts involved in pornographic activities and 19,000 groups engaged in illegal activities related to pornography. In cases where the platform proactively reported to the authorities, 66 suspects involved in spreading obscene and pornographic content have been arrested and taken into custody.
