Caterpillar warns: Tariff impact expected to reach up to $1.8 billion this year

Caterpillar warns investors that tariffs are expected to have an impact on the company of up to $1.8 billion this year, higher than the initial expectations in early August. In a filing on Thursday, Caterpillar stated, "While the company continues to take preliminary mitigation measures to reduce this impact, trade and tariff negotiations remain unpredictable." The company anticipates that the net impact of additional tariffs this year will reach $500 million to $600 million in the third quarter and $1.5 billion to $1.8 billion for the full year.
