An armed attack occurred in the Zamfara state in northwest Nigeria recently, resulting in at least two deaths and the kidnapping of hundreds of people, most of whom are women and children. According to a report by Reuters on the 27th, the attack took place on the 23rd in a village in the Bukuyum district of Adafaka. Local resident Muhammadu Mai Anguwa said that dozens of attackers rode motorcycles into the village that day at noon, shooting at people and kidnapping a large number of women and children, taking them away. Another eyewitness said that the attackers were divided into two groups, with one group taking villagers and livestock, while the other group was stationed at a major entrance and exit in the area. Local legislator Hamisu Faru confirmed the incident to Reuters. He said that since the morning of the 23rd, at least 100 people have been kidnapped in the area. The Zamfara state police have not yet responded to the incident.
