On the 28th, the News Center for the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War held the first press conference for the commemorative activities. During the conference, a reporter asked about the participation of foreign dignitaries from global southern countries in this year's commemorative activities. How does China view this? In response, Assistant Foreign Minister Hong Lei stated that the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression was the first complete victory in modern times for the Chinese people in their national liberation struggle, inspiring confidence and courage for countries around the world that have suffered from aggression and oppression, to strive for national independence and liberation. This victory had a tremendous impact on their success. Today, 80 years later, the era where a few countries dominated the fate of other nations, controlled international affairs, and monopolized development advantages is gone forever. The rise of the global southern collective is fundamentally changing the world map. Over the past 40 years, the share of global GDP of southern countries has increased from 24% to over 40%, with their contribution to global economic growth reaching 80% over the past 20 years. More and more southern countries are hosting BRICS, APEC, and G20 summits, voicing the "southern voice" and leaving a profound "southern mark." The global South is no longer a silent majority or a backward "region," but represents a new awakening force and a new hope for a change of century. Over 80 years ago, in that battle between justice and evil, people who love peace from around the world united, forming a broad anti-fascist front, defeating the barbaric invaders, creating world peace, and laying an important foundation for the post-war international order. 80 years later, it is hoped that together with global southern countries and others, we can promote equal and orderly world multipolarity and inclusive economic globalization for the common good, and advance the just cause of world peace, development, and progress.
