The Taiwan Affairs Office Response to American Think Tank Personnel's Involvement in Taiwan-related Remarks: The End of "Taiwan Independence" is "Abandonment"

On August 27, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a routine press conference. A reporter asked about the remarks of personnel from a US think tank regarding Taiwan. Spokesperson Zhu Fenglian stated that the remarks once again exposed the US always prioritizing "American interests", using so-called "security guarantees" as bait to make the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities faithfully pay "protection fees". The end of "Taiwan independence" is being abandoned. No matter what cards the DPP authorities play with external forces, it cannot change the fact that Taiwan is part of China, nor can it shake the basic framework of the international community's adherence to the One China principle.
