On August 26, Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao met with Saudi Minister of Investment Fahd in Beijing. The two sides exchanged views on implementing the important consensus of the leaders of the two countries, deepening cooperation in bilateral trade, investment, production supply chains, and other areas. Wang Wentao stated that 2025 marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Saudi Arabia. In recent years, under the personal care and strategic guidance of the leaders of China and Saudi Arabia, the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries has been deepened, bilateral economic and trade cooperation has entered the "fast lane," and fruitful results have been achieved. China is willing to strengthen the alignment of the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" initiative with Saudi Arabia's "2030 Vision," expand bilateral trade, enhance the level of two-way investment cooperation, expand cooperation in new energy, production supply chains, capital markets, and other areas, and promote the continuous deepening of bilateral economic and trade relations. Wang Wentao pointed out that China is a sincere partner in Saudi Arabia's development. Currently, global economic development faces severe challenges, and the multilateral trading system is experiencing an unprecedented crisis. China and Saudi Arabia should fully play the role of multilateral platforms such as the G20 and the World Trade Organization, strengthen communication and coordination, jointly defend international economic and trade rules, firmly uphold the multilateral trading system, and practice true multilateralism through open cooperation. Fahd expressed that China is an important strategic partner for Saudi Arabia, and Saudi Arabia is willing to deepen cooperation in the trade field, support Saudi companies in expanding investments in China, welcome more Chinese companies to invest in Saudi Arabia, deepen practical cooperation in high-tech manufacturing, new energy, production supply chains, industrial parks, and other fields, and continuously enrich and develop the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia supports multilateralism and is willing to work with China to jointly uphold the multilateral trading system and international economic and trade rules.
