The 75th session of the WHO Regional Committee for Africa is held.
The 75th session of the World Health Organization African Regional Committee was held in Lusaka, the capital of Zambia, from August 25th to 27th. Zambian President Edgar Lungu, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom, as well as health ministers and representatives from 47 African countries attended the meeting. The theme of the meeting was "Working Together to Build a Healthier Africa", with a focus on advancing universal health coverage, strengthening public health security and emergency preparedness, as well as ensuring maternal and child health, malaria prevention and control, and other key priorities such as non-communicable diseases. The WHO emphasized that African countries should enhance the development and self-reliance of their public health systems.
