Major stock indexes in Europe closed mostly lower.

The German DAX 30 index closed down 0.25% at 24211.48 points. The French stock index closed down 1.47%, the Italian stock index closed down 1.17%, the banking index fell 2.42%, and the UK stock index closed down 0.64%.
