Consumer confidence in the United States fell in August, with concerns about employment and income causing more worries. Data released on Tuesday showed that the Consumer Confidence Index from the World Economic Forum fell to 97.4 from the revised level of the previous month. Bloomberg's survey of economists showed a median market expectation of 96.5. The index measuring expectations for the next six months decreased in August, while the current conditions index fell to its lowest level since April.
