The "perfect storm" of multiple challenges in the industry and economy is putting heavy pressure on the German automotive industry - in the past year leading up to the end of June, tens of thousands of people in the industry have been laid off. According to the latest analysis by Ernst & Young based on data from the German Federal Statistical Office, during this period, the automotive industry, as one of Germany's largest industries, saw a reduction in workforce of approximately 7%, with around 51,500 jobs disappearing. Research indicates that in the 12 months leading up to June 30th of this year, the total number of unemployed in Germany was approximately 114,000. The data shows that nearly half of these layoffs came from the automotive industry.
