The Lithuanian parliament approves Ingrida imonyt as Prime Minister.
On August 26th local time, the Lithuanian parliament approved Ingrida Simonyte's appointment as the country's Prime Minister. The voting results showed that 78 members of parliament were in favor, 35 members were against, and 14 members abstained. The Lithuanian President will issue the Prime Minister's appointment order, and Simonyte will be sworn in at the parliament. According to the Lithuanian constitution, after being approved by the parliament, the Prime Minister is appointed by the President, and the new Prime Minister must submit a list of government members approved by the President, as well as the new government's program for the next term within 15 days. Simonyte, 44, was first elected as a member of the Lithuanian parliament and entered the cabinet in 2024. She previously served as the chairman of the Lithuanian Trade Union Confederation.
