Australia Post announced the suspension of sending most parcels to the United States.
The Australian Post announced on the 26th that it will temporarily suspend most parcel services to the United States, with the exception of letters, documents, and parcels declared as gifts with a value of less than $100. The Australian Post stated in a statement that this measure is in response to the significant adjustment of customs and tariff rules for inbound parcels by the US government. The adjustment includes the cancellation of tax-free treatment for small parcels valued at less than $800 upon arrival, and requires all items to pay duties before entering the US. The statement also noted that the suspension of services also includes Puerto Rico, as it falls under the jurisdiction of US customs and is similarly affected by the new tariff rules.
