Several media outlets recently released a video of the scene when a Royal Malaysian Air Force F/A-18D "Hornet" fighter jet crashed at the Kuantan Air Base in Pahang state on the evening of the 21st of this month. The video shows that shortly after the plane took off from the ground, there was a suspected explosion at the tail of the aircraft, followed by a large spark being emitted. Another video recorded a fireball rising in the distance after the plane crashed. Earlier reports indicated that both pilots ejected safely before the crash. The F/A-18D "Hornet" is a fighter jet developed by McDonnell Douglas, sold to multiple countries in addition to being used by the US military. Its improved models, the F/A-18E and F types, are currently widely used by the US Navy and have recently experienced several accidents.
