The Ministry of Natural Resources has initiated emergency response to marine disasters in Guangdong and Hainan.
Affected by this year's 13th typhoon "Swordfish", storm surge will occur along the coast from Yangjiang to the east coast of Leizhou Peninsula in Guangdong, and the north, east, and south coasts of Hainan Island. Large to huge waves of 3 to 5.5 meters will appear in the nearshore waters of eastern and southern Hainan. The National Marine Environmental Forecasting Center has issued a blue alert for storm surges and an orange alert for nearshore waves.
In accordance with the "Emergency Response Plan for Marine Disasters", the Ministry of Natural Resources initiated a level four emergency response for maritime disasters in Guangdong and Hainan at 10:00 on August 23. At 16:00 on the same day, the level of emergency response for marine disasters in Hainan was raised to level three, requiring the natural resources authorities, the National Marine Environmental Forecasting Center, the Marine Disaster Reduction Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources, and the South China Sea Bureau of the Ministry of Natural Resources to organize emergency monitoring, consultation and assessment, forecasting and warning, as well as disaster investigation and evaluation in the affected areas.
It is reminded that relevant units should take timely measures, organize fishing boats, fish farms, and aquaculture facilities to prepare for flood and wave prevention.
