South Korean President Lee Jae-myung will start his visit to Japan and the United States on the 23rd and will attend the Korea-Japan and Korea-US summit meetings consecutively. On the 21st, before the trip, Lee Jae-myung stated that he would prioritize national interests. However, on the same day, South Korean Foreign Minister Chung Hyun suddenly headed to the United States, missing the Korea-Japan summit meeting, sparking speculation. With Lee Jae-myung's declining approval ratings, some South Korean media believe that the outcome of the summit meetings is of great significance to the current government. In response to Lee Jae-myung's intensive summit meetings, there are different reactions within the South Korean political landscape. The ruling party, the Democratic Party, stated on the 22nd via the Yonhap News Agency that as this is an important trip concerning South Korea's national interests and peace on the Korean Peninsula, they hope for the successful visit by the President. Party leader Chong Qinglai, on the 22nd when talking about the Korea-Japan summit meeting, stated that the leaders of the two countries should consider co-prosperity development with national interests as the starting point. Regarding the Korea-US summit meeting, Chong Qinglai mentioned that they should confirm a solid Korea-US alliance and achieve future-oriented alliance outcomes based on practical diplomacy guided by national interests. On the other hand, the opposition party, the People Power Party, criticized Lee Jae-myung's visit as "dangerous tightrope diplomacy" on the same day.
