According to the Securities Times APP, Johnson & Johnson (JNJ.US) announced on Thursday that it will invest $2 billion in North Carolina to expand its domestic manufacturing capacity in the United States to cope with the possibility of drug import tariffs imposed by the Trump administration. Prior to this, major pharmaceutical companies such as Eli Lilly (LLY.US) and AstraZeneca (AZN.US) have already pledged to invest billions of dollars to expand their U.S. operations in response to Trump's tariff threats. Earlier this month, Trump stated plans to impose tariffs on the pharmaceutical industry in stages, with rates possibly increasing from a small amount to as high as 250%.
