On August 22, the Director of the State Administration for Market Regulation, Luo Wen, stated at a press conference that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, they will strengthen the monitoring and evaluation of monopoly risks in key areas, and enhance the regular supervision of the platform economy to set red lines for preventing and stopping disorderly competition in the online market. They will continue to carry out special anti-monopoly law enforcement actions in the livelihood sector, investigate and handle monopoly cases in the pharmaceutical sector, and drive drug prices back to reasonable levels. They will also investigate and handle monopoly cases in sectors such as water supply, gas, building materials, and motor vehicle testing, effectively reducing the cost of living for the public and the production burden of operating entities. They will enhance the scrutiny of operators in key areas such as natural monopolies in the platform economy, with a total of 3400 cases concluded and 145 cases of illegal concentration of operators handled, effectively safeguarding the market order of fair competition.
