Friends Provident Insurance's new business value in the first half of the year saw strong growth, mainly driven by the strong sales of policies in Hong Kong. The insurance company, headquartered in Hong Kong, reported on Thursday that the indicator measuring the future profitability of new policies increased by 16% year-on-year to 2.84 billion US dollars in the first half of the year. Excluding the impact of exchange rate fluctuations, the growth rate was 14%. The board of directors of Friends Provident Insurance increased the interim dividend by 10% to HK$0.49 per share.
