According to data from the Ministry of Transport, since the start of the "14th Five-Year Plan", the central government has cumulatively invested 220 billion yuan in vehicle purchase taxes, driving the completion of rural highway investments of about 2 trillion yuan by the entire society, with an additional 44.45 billion yuan invested in rural passenger transport subsidies and over 400 billion yuan in rural road maintenance funds. In the first four years of the "14th Five-Year Plan", a total of 716,000 kilometers of rural roads were newly built or renovated nationwide. The proportion of towns and townships connected by third-level and above roads reached 89.5%, while the proportion of natural villages with hardened roads reached 94.6%. A basic rural transportation network connecting villages, towns, and regions has been established, promoting both internal and external connectivity.
