The Taiwan stock market fell 728.06 points on Wednesday, a decrease of 2.99%, closing at 23625.44 points, mainly dragged down by the technology stocks. Analysts said that due to the US government's plan to invest in Intel and stating that if Taiwan Semiconductor wants to receive subsidies, it must exchange stocks for the subsidies, Taiwan Semiconductor's ADR fell last night, causing the Taiwan stock market to open lower and continue to fall, dragging down the overall market. On the market, electronic components, semiconductors, and glass sectors led the decline. In terms of individual stocks, tech heavyweights Taiwan Semiconductor fell 4.21%, Foxconn fell 3.6%, MediaTek fell 2.51%, Delta Electronics fell 5.44%, and Largan Precision fell 3.17%. United Microelectronics Corporation benefited from SoftBank's $2 billion investment in Intel, closing up 2.07%.
