Cyberspace Administration of China releases typical cases of illegal and irregular military-related self-media accounts.
Recently, some self-media accounts violated the "Internet Military Information Dissemination Management Measures", illegally publishing military-related information, misleading public perception, damaging the image of the military, and having a negative social impact. Military and local functional departments have lawfully dealt with a batch of online illegal and irregular information and self-media accounts, and now select and report on relevant typical cases.
1. Impersonating official accounts. Online accounts such as "Southern Guardian", "Joint Intelligence Think Tank Service", and "Joint Logistics Support" are similar to official accounts of military units, impersonating official accounts and mainly publishing military-related content, riding on military hot topics to attract followers for profit.
2. Fabricating military rumors. The online account "Good Bunny Military Situation" uses AI to fabricate rumors such as "China's four major soul-capturing weapons", misleading perception. The online account "Military Class Representative" releases content such as "Analyze equipment details", "Analyze tactics and strategies", "Interpret military operations", some of which require payment to view. It is profiting illegally under the guise of military topics.
3. Distorting the interpretation of military history. Online accounts like "Hong Xiao Yan's Retreat", "Hong Xiao Yan Talks about the Past and Present", and "Hong Xiao Yan's Backyard" claim that the achievements of Zhang Jihui, a volunteer pilot in the Korean War, and a first-class air combat hero, have been exaggerated, questioning and defaming the achievements of heroes, profiting by diverting traffic through serious topics of party and military history.
4. Slandering the image of the military. Online accounts like "Military Creation Yijie", "Suzhou Yijie" use so-called "Q&A videos" to publish misleading content such as "What are the dangers of serving in XX location", tarnishing the image of the military.
5. Exploiting military sentiment. The online account "Qinhuai River Bank" claims to be a retired soldier, regularly posting short videos of themselves wearing various military uniforms or imitation military uniforms, in violation of personal account regulations.
6. Revealing military camp information. The online account "Yang Yang" claims to be a post-90s military wife left behind and posts many short videos of "military family courtyards", with content containing various training equipment and location tags, exposing sensitive military information. Officials from military and local relevant departments stated that they will continue to implement the "Internet Military Information Dissemination Management Measures", resolutely crack down on illegal and irregular behaviors related to the military in self-media platforms according to law and regulations, strictly deal with the entities of accounts that publish and hype up false information, and expose typical cases. At the same time, they welcome relevant departments and netizens to actively participate in reporting, jointly creating a good online environment related to the military.
