American officials are saying that NVIDIA and AMD have agreed to hand over 15% of their revenue to the US government in exchange for export licenses.

Both companies have agreed to pay 15% of the revenue from the sale of chips destined for China to the U.S. government in exchange for the export license for the relevant products.
The Financial Times reported that, according to an unnamed U.S. official, under the agreement, Nvidia will pay 15% of the revenue from the sale of its H20 chips in China, and AMD will also pay the same percentage of revenue from the sale of its MI308 chips. Sources, including a U.S. official, revealed to the newspaper that these two companies agreed to the financial arrangement in order to obtain the export license granted by the U.S. government. The sources stated that the Trump administration has not yet decided how to use this funding.
