The Ministry of Transport has recently interviewed China Communications Construction Group Limited regarding accidents in the area of highway construction projects.

Since the beginning of this year, China Communications Construction Group has had multiple accidents in the field of highway construction. In order to deeply learn from the accident lessons and urge the enterprises to effectively improve safety in highway construction, the Ministry of Transport recently held a meeting with China Communications Construction Group Co., Ltd. and its subsidiary, CCCC Second Harbor Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd. During the meeting, it was emphasized that China Communications Construction Group must thoroughly implement the important instructions and directives of General Secretary Xi Jinping on safety production, conscientiously implement the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee and State Council, coordinate development and safety, correctly handle the relationship between safety, quality, construction period, and benefits, adhere to strong management, high standards, and strict requirements, and effectively improve the quality and safety level in the field of highway construction. It was pointed out during the meeting that there is a need to deeply understand the current safety production situation, analyze the underlying issues behind accidents, take effective measures, focus on preventing safety risks caused by inadequate ideological understanding, project management, and site control, and resolutely curb the trend of frequent accidents in the field of highway construction, and strictly prevent accidents causing multiple casualties. It was required during the meeting that China Communications Construction Group must strictly fulfill its corporate responsibility, strengthen internal safety management, and streamline the construction safety management system of projects. There is a need to deepen the investigation and rectification of hidden risks, actively strengthen safety precautions against accidents such as falling from heights, collapse of foundation pits and slopes, collapse of formwork support, mechanical injuries, and collapse of large temporary facilities. There is also a need to strengthen the management of subcontracting and labor cooperation teams, and resolutely rectify illegal operations and risky construction activities.
