On the morning of July 30th, the Taiwan Affairs Office held a routine press conference. The reporter mentioned that Lai Ching-te declared in the so-called "Ten Principles of Unity" that the People's Republic of China has never ruled Taiwan. Mainland scholars have published articles debunking Lai Ching-te's distortion of "factual possession" as "legal possession." In response, the Mainland Affairs Council stated that "Taiwan has been under the rule of the Republic of China since 1945, and the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China are not subordinate to each other." What is your comment on this? Spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office, Chen Binhua: The historical facts of the Taiwan issue are clear, Taiwan is clearly a part of China both legally and in reality. Lai Ching-te's fallacy has no historical or legal basis and does not conform to objective facts. On October 1, 1949, the Central People's Government of the People's Republic of China was declared as the only legitimate government representing all of China, replacing the government of the Republic of China. This was a change of government under the same international legal entity of China without changes to China's sovereignty and territory, and it is natural for the People's Republic of China to fully enjoy and exercise China's sovereignty, including over Taiwan. The Democratic Progressive Party authorities are ignoring facts, spreading falsehoods, and repeatedly advocating the fallacy and lies of "not being subordinate to each other" across the Taiwan Strait, which will only exacerbate tensions in the Taiwan Strait, disrupt peace, and bring great calamity to the people of Taiwan. No matter what they say or do, they cannot change the fact that Taiwan is an indivisible part of China, and they cannot stop the inevitable trend of reunification of the motherland.
