China and the U.S. will continue to push for the suspension of the 24% equivalent tariffs by the U.S. and the extension of China's retaliatory measures as scheduled.

Li Chenggang, the International Trade Negotiator and Deputy Minister of China's Ministry of Commerce, said on July 29th that, in accordance with the consensus reached by both China and the United States, both sides will continue to push for the resumption of the 24% reciprocal tariffs by the U.S. that were temporarily suspended, as well as the extension of China's retaliatory measures as scheduled. Li Chenggang stated that over the past day and a half, the economic and trade teams of China and the United States have continued to play a role in the China-U.S. economic and trade negotiation mechanism, engaging in in-depth, candid, and constructive exchanges on major issues of mutual concern as agreed upon during the phone call between the two countries' leaders on June 5th. Li Chenggang also mentioned that the economic and trade teams of China and the United States will continue to maintain close communication, exchange views on economic and trade issues in a timely manner, and continue to promote the stable and healthy development of bilateral economic and trade relations.
