In early trading on Tuesday, Eastern Time, the stock price of Union Pacific Corporation fell by about 3.5%. Prior to this, the company officially confirmed the acquisition of Norfolk Southern Corporation, aiming to create the first transcontinental railroad network in the United States. The valuation of Norfolk Southern in this transaction is $320 per share, with a total enterprise value of $85 billion. The new merged entity is expected to generate significant synergies, completely changing the supply chain landscape in the United States, with annual synergies opportunities estimated at $2.75 billion.
