Angolan taxi drivers' strike triggers riots, resulting in 4 deaths and over 500 people being arrested.
On July 29th local time, the Deputy Commissioner of the National Police of Angola, Mateus Rodrigues, announced at a press conference that on July 28th, a strike by taxi drivers in Luanda, Angola, resulted in riots that led to the death of 4 people. In the past 24 hours, the police have arrested over 500 suspects involved in robbery and vandalism in Luanda. According to Rodrigues, the riots have resulted in the destruction of approximately 45 shops, 25 private cars, 20 public buses, 3 bank branches, and 2 ATMs. The situation is now under control.
