In recent period, frequent heavy rainfall has caused floods. In order to ensure communication remains smooth, China Mobile is providing Beijing users with a one-month free BeiDou SMS service. This service allows users to send and receive emergency messages when outdoors without network signal, using mobile phones that support BeiDou SMS function. This helps users to contact their families during emergencies. To activate the service, users can send a message "KTBD" to 10086 and confirm with a reply. In emergency situations when there is no mobile communication network coverage outdoors, users can use this service to send BeiDou SMS messages to ask for help or report safety information. Currently, China Mobile has dispatched multiple teams to heavily flooded areas for rescue operations, and deployed drone-based aerial base stations to provide emergency communication services to local residents.
