On the evening of the 25th local time, the Chinese delegation held a themed side event during the 15th Conference of the Parties to the Ramsar Convention in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, sharing China's experience in wetland management and protection. The theme of the side event was "China's solution for high-quality development of wetlands: building a community of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature." Yan Zhen, head of the Chinese delegation and Deputy Director of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration, stated at the event that over the past 20 years, China's wetland conservation efforts have undergone a historic, transformative, and comprehensive change, resulting in a good situation of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. Ramsar Convention Secretary General Martha Rojas Urrego expressed in her speech that China has made outstanding achievements in wetland conservation, with the highest number of "International Wetland Cities" globally. These cities have various characteristics and are each unique in wetland conservation. China's wetland conservation laws not only emphasize the establishment of clear resource inventories and a sound data management system, but also clarify the roles and status of cities in wetland conservation.
