Trump hinted that some of the tariff revenue may be returned to the public in the form of tax refund checks.

Trump said he is considering giving back some of the tariffs collected from trading partners to the American people in the form of a tax refund check. Trump told reporters on Friday before departing for Scotland, "We are indeed considering this issue, we have received so much tariff revenue, we are considering some tax refunds. Small refunds for specific income levels could be a great idea." Trump also said that using this revenue to pay off U.S. debt is also an option, "What we really want to do is pay off debt, but we are also considering tax refunds."
