Maduro: Venezuela will resume Chevron's operations in the country after the US issues the permit.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro stated on national television that Venezuela "welcomes" the new license granted to Chevron by the U.S. Department of the Treasury and "hopes" to establish better relations with the United States. Chevron was informed of the new license by Venezuela's Oil Minister Delcy Rodriguez. The Venezuelan government is working with Chevron to help the American oil giant resume its operations in the country. Venezuela increased its oil production during Chevron's temporary suspension of operations. The Venezuelan oil economy grew by 12% in the second quarter. Maduro stated that Venezuela welcomes all investors in the oil and gas sector.
