Wang Yi meets with Pakistani Army Chief of Staff Munir

On July 24, 2025, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Director of the Central Foreign Affairs Office, met with General Munir, Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan in Beijing. Wang Yi congratulated Munir on his appointment as Marshal of the Pakistan Army, and stated that the Pakistani military is a staunch defender of national interests and a strong supporter of the friendship between China and Pakistan. He expressed his hopes for the Pakistani military to continue to make efforts for the development of China-Pakistan relations. Wang Yi said that China and Pakistan are ironclad friends and all-weather strategic partners. The two sides have always supported each other firmly on issues concerning their core interests, and have faced challenges together. In recent years, under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and Pakistani leaders, China-Pakistan relations have been continuously progressing, and both sides are accelerating the building of a closer community of shared future in the new era. China will continue to prioritize Pakistan in its neighboring diplomacy, work together with Pakistan to implement important consensus reached by leaders of both countries, further deepen all-weather strategic cooperation, benefit the people of both countries, and make due contributions to regional peace and stability. China supports Pakistan in resolutely combating all forms of terrorism and hopes that the Pakistani military will continue to fully ensure the safety of Chinese personnel, projects, and institutions in Pakistan. Munir stated that the brotherly friendship and strategic partnership between China and Pakistan have withstood the test of time and are as solid as a rock. China is a staunch brother of Pakistan, and friendly cooperation with China is the consensus of the entire Pakistani society. He sincerely thanked China for its long-term valuable support for Pakistan's economic and social development. The Pakistani military will continue to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel, projects, and institutions in Pakistan, and is willing to actively promote enhanced counter-terrorism cooperation between the two countries. Both sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues of common concern.
