Zhijing Finance APP learned that Clarkson Research has released a "Half-Year Summary of the Chinese Shipping Leasing Market". According to statistics from the institution, as of the end of June 2025, the total number of ships in the fleet and orders held by Chinese leasing companies was 3161, an increase of 100 ships compared to the beginning of the year, with the basic value of the ship assets remaining stable. In the first half of 2025, Chinese leasing companies added 218 leased ships, a slight decrease from the same period last year; 117 ships left the ownership of Chinese leasing companies in the first half of the year. Clarkson Research stated that although the impact of the US Section 301 investigation on Chinese ship leasing projects has not yet been evident from the data, the willingness of shipowners' clients to prepay has increased since the second quarter. With the approaching "expected" execution date, the number of international shipowners terminating their leasing projects ahead of schedule will increase in the second half of this year, and it is necessary to closely monitor policy changes.
