Fourteen rivers across the country experienced flooding exceeding the alert level.
According to the Ministry of Water Resources, from 8:00 on July 23 to 8:00 on July 24, due to rainfall, 11 rivers including the Red River and Dahai River tributaries of the Yellow River in the middle reaches of Inner Mongolia, the Hengjiang tributary of the Jinsha River in Sichuan, the Pingma River tributary of the Youshui River in Chongqing, the Dong River tributary of the Yuanjiang River in Hunan, and the Jiaokuo River tributary of the Jinsha River in Yunnan, experienced floods exceeding the alert level, with the maximum exceeding 1.41 meters. Among them, the Water Mill Gully in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia experienced the largest flood since the data was recorded in 1959. In addition, due to high temperatures and melting snow, the main stream and tributaries of the Tarim River in Xinjiang, as well as the Hotan River and Xiate River tributaries of the Ili River, experienced a slight excess of water flow above the alert level. On the morning of July 24, the Ministry of Water Resources held a rolling consultation to assess the national rainfall situation and issued targeted warnings to 17 provinces including Hebei, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, and Liaoning, reminding them to be prepared for floods and mountain floods in small and medium-sized rivers, as well as reservoir safety and flood control measures. Currently, the Ministry of Water Resources maintains a level IV emergency response for flood control in Guangdong, Guangxi, and Hainan provinces, with four working groups assisting in guiding and supporting flood prevention efforts in Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, and Jilin.
