At today's seminar on the development of the photovoltaic industry supply chain, Yan Dazhou, Director of the National Engineering Laboratory for Polysilicon Material Preparation Technology, stated in his keynote address that in recent years, the overall energy consumption of polysilicon has continued to decrease. The revision of the polysilicon unit product comprehensive energy consumption standard is being promoted. Currently, the comprehensive energy consumption levels for polysilicon unit products are 7.5, 8.5, and 10.5 for levels 1, 2, and 3 respectively. The proposed revised standards are 5, 6, and 7.5, in order to promote the elimination of outdated production capacity. In terms of the current industry situation, he mentioned that in the first half of this year, the operating rate of polysilicon companies was between 38.6% and 44.1%, with polysilicon being sold below cost for over 14 months, resulting in widespread operational difficulties for companies. To alleviate the pressure, he suggested strengthening self-discipline within companies and actively utilizing risk management tools to effectively hedge against market fluctuations.
