Russian oil giant Nayara Energy, which holds a 49% stake in the Indian refinery, has experienced a fuel export interruption. This comes after the EU imposed sanctions on the company for being a major customer of Russian crude oil. Last Friday, the EU approved the eighteenth round of sanctions against Russia, adding over a hundred "shadow fleet" oil tankers, energy traders, and related banks to the sanction list. For the first time, the EU has included Russian crude oil customers in the sanctions, freezing assets, imposing travel bans, and restricting resources on entities involved in oil trade with Russia. The targeted entities include Russian and international companies managing the shadow fleet ships, Russian crude oil traders, and the main customer of the shadow fleet - Nayara Energy refinery in India, which is majority owned by Rosneft.
