In recent years, "exotic pets" represented by snakes, lizards, and beetles have become popular among young people due to their unique appearance and novel breeding experience, even giving rise to an illegal smuggling industry. Some criminals smuggle foreign species into the country for profit by falsely declaring the name of the product or concealing it during transportation. In the first half of this year, Beijing ports have detected 531 instances of foreign species.
