The "horizontal standard" for the life cycle assessment of electronic electrical products developed by our country was released.
Today, reporters learned from the National Standards Committee that the international standard "Product Category Rules for Life Cycle Assessment of Electrical and Electronic Products and Systems" led by China has been officially released. As a "horizontal standard," this standard will be used to guide the International Electrotechnical Commission in building a standard system for product life cycle assessment and carbon footprint assessment. In the process of sustainable development and "dual carbon" initiatives, accurately assessing the environmental impact of products in terms of climate change and resource consumption has gradually become a focus of attention for governments and markets worldwide, requiring the establishment of product category rule standards and detailed requirements for functional units, system boundaries, data quality, etc. The release of this international standard will guide the construction of a standard system for life cycle assessment and carbon footprint assessment of electronic and electrical products, support the establishment of fair and environmental protection rules for international trade of electronic and electrical products, and help domestic products respond to green trade barriers.
