Industrial silicon and polycrystalline silicon futures both hit their daily limit, and the trend of pricing transmission towards downstream markets is attracting attention.

It is worth noting that the price increase of silicon materials is currently being transmitted to downstream companies. Sun Weidong, chief analyst of non-ferrous metals at Dongfang Futures, said that in order for polysilicon prices to truly rise, it depends on the implementation of production cuts on one hand, and on the further increase in prices of downstream silicon wafers, battery wafers, and components on the other. A significant price jump in silicon wafers occurred last week, with the Silicon Industry Association reporting that the average transaction price of N-type G10L monocrystalline silicon wafers last week was 1.05 RMB per piece, an increase of 22.09% from the previous week. The association believes that this increase reflects the recent upward trend in the price of raw material polysilicon under the influence of policies such as "anti-cyclicality," which in turn drives up silicon wafer prices. Additionally, the overall operating rate of the silicon wafer industry has slightly decreased, with two frontline enterprises operating at rates of 50% and 40%. At the same time, there has been an increase in the activity of new silicon material transactions, indicating that the wait-and-see attitude of silicon wafer companies is gradually diminishing. The association reported that approximately 6 companies reached new orders last week, with a significant increase in overall transaction volume compared to the previous week, with transaction prices ranging from 40,000 RMB per ton to 49,000 RMB per ton, and most orders falling at both ends of the range, showing significant price differentiation. The association revealed that silicon wafer companies have reached a preliminary consensus, and a new round of silicon wafer price quotes will be released, with N-type G10L quoted at 1.45 RMB per piece, N-type G12R at 1.65 RMB per piece, and N-type G12 at 1.93 RMB per piece, with major silicon wafer factories already closing their warehouses in anticipation of price increases. Whether these price increases will be accepted ultimately depends on the tolerance of downstream consumers such as battery and component manufacturers.
