A tourist in a water park in Chongqing was electrocuted, official report announced.

Recently, a netizen posted a video claiming that a tourist at the Venice Water Park in Wanzhou, Chongqing was electrocuted and fell to the ground dead. On July 22, the incident investigation team led by the Wanzhou District Emergency Management Bureau of Chongqing issued a situation report: At around 19:30 on July 19, 2025, an incident occurred at the Venice Water Park in Wanzhou District, where a tourist experienced discomfort due to electric shock. Upon receiving the report, emergency, tourism, and public security units immediately rushed to the scene. After preliminary investigation, it was found that a damaged insulating layer of a lamppost wiring in the water park caused the railing to become electrified, leading to one tourist being electrocuted and three tourists being frightened. After the incident, the relevant units promptly sent the four tourists who had discomfort to the hospital for examination. After examination, it was found that the four tourists were not seriously injured and have already been discharged. Upon arrival at the scene, the relevant units organized the evacuation of the crowd, sealed off the scene, and ordered the park to close for rectification. Currently, an incident investigation team led by the district emergency management bureau has been established to further investigate the cause of the incident.
