The Central Meteorological Observatory continued to issue a yellow typhoon warning at 06:00 on July 19th.
Typhoon "Wipha", the sixth of the year, strengthened from a tropical storm to a severe tropical storm at 5 o'clock this morning. Its center is located about 880 kilometers southeast of Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province, specifically at 19.9 degrees north latitude and 120.2 degrees east longitude. The maximum wind force near the center is level 10, with a minimum central pressure of 985 hPa and a radius of gale-force winds extending from 260 to 350 kilometers. It is expected that "Wipha" will move in a west-northwesterly direction at a speed of 15 to 20 kilometers per hour, entering the northeast South China Sea and gradually intensifying. It will approach the coast from Shenzhen, Guangdong to Wenchang, Hainan, and is expected to make landfall along this coastal area on the afternoon or evening of the 20th.
