Bangkok to Chongqing flight's windshield cracked before takeoff, AirAsia issues situation statement.
On July 18th, Thai AirAsia issued a statement regarding flight FD553 from Chongqing to Bangkok. Thai AirAsia confirmed that flight FD552 from Bangkok Don Mueang International Airport to Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport on July 17th encountered turbulence due to weather conditions during the flight and safely landed in Chongqing at 18:00 on the same day. The flight carried a total of 147 passengers and crew members. The weather incident caused some damage to the aircraft, which required technical inspection and maintenance according to airline safety regulations, resulting in the scheduled return flight FD553 from Chongqing to Bangkok being postponed. Affected passengers have been provided with hotel accommodation, meals, and ground support services, and have been rebooked on flight FD553 departing at 12:52 on July 18th. The flight safely arrived at Don Mueang Airport in Thailand at 14:30 local time.
