This week, the price of thermal coal has increased, with a weekly increase of more than ten yuan.
According to the China Coal Market website, the price of thermal coal has increased this week. Recently, domestic macroeconomic policies have been relatively positive, leading to increased market confidence and a notable improvement in prices for various types of coal. Additionally, many major production areas have experienced rainy weather, resulting in coal production levels below expectations, which has supported a slight rebound in prices at the production sites. In terms of ports, market sentiment remains optimistic, with traders continuing to quote slightly higher prices. However, power plants are showing only moderate purchasing activity, mainly focused on fulfilling long-term contracts and with a limited release of additional stockpile demand. As of July 18th, the reference prices for CCTD Bohai Sea thermal coal in three specifications of 5500K, 5000K, and 4500K were 639, 575, and 509 RMB per ton respectively, with week-on-week increases of 12, 13, and 13 RMB per ton.
