Reporters learned from the Ministry of Natural Resources that today the National Ocean Forecasting Center has issued a yellow alert for high waves in accordance with the "Emergency Response Plan for Marine Disasters." Currently, Typhoon "Weipa" is moving in a west-northwest direction at a speed of 20-25 kilometers per hour, and its intensity is expected to further increase. Due to the influence of Typhoon "Weipa," the southern coastal areas of China will face a severe test. In terms of waves, it is predicted that on July 19th during the day, the Bashi Channel and the northeastern part of the South China Sea will experience waves of 4 to 6 meters, and the southern part of the East China Sea and the Taiwan Strait will experience waves of 2 to 3.5 meters. The coastal waters near Zhejiang and the northern part of Fujian will experience waves of 2 to 2.8 meters, with a blue alert level. The National Ocean Forecasting Center reminds ships operating in the mentioned areas to pay attention to safety, and relevant coastal units to take precautions against waves in advance.
