Hangzhou Yuhang Water Affairs responds to the strange taste of tap water: the reason is that the original water source at Xiaoxi River is abnormal, and government departments are investigating.
Residents of multiple communities in Liangzhu Street and Renhe Street in Yuhang District, Hangzhou, Zhejiang recently posted online that their tap water at home had a strong, unpleasant odor. Some described it as the smell of a dead rat, while others said it was the smell of sewage backflow and septic tanks, and still others mentioned a smell of burnt plastic or pesticides sprayed in green belts. At 4:20 pm on the 17th, the official account of Hangzhou Yuhang Water Holdings Group Co., Ltd. once again published a situation report, but did not mention the cause of the abnormal tap water. The report stated, "On July 16th, we switched water sources, and after the Renhe Water Plant's main network was restored to normal, flushing of all branches and secondary water tanks has been completed. After testing, the water quality in Renhe Street and Liangzhu Street has been restored, and users can now use it normally. Before use, users should drain the 'stored water'. To compensate for the inconvenience caused to users, we will provide a reduction of 5 tons of water fee for each household in July."
