The total amount of tropical crop germplasm resources preserved in our country has been steadily increasing.

Tropical crop germplasm resources are an important strategic resource for our country. The person in charge of the agricultural reclamation bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs recently stated that the total amount of tropical crop germplasm resources saved in our country has steadily increased to over 90,000. At the national tropical crop germplasm resources protection and utilization on-site observation and exchange event held in Sanya, this person introduced that there are a total of 105 tropical crop germplasm resource nurseries established nationwide, and more than 300 crop tissue culture and in vitro preservation technologies for natural rubber, cassava, and other crops have been developed, gradually achieving the scientific and standardized preservation of tropical crop germplasm resources. The amount of litchi and longan germplasm resources preserved ranks first in the world, while the amount of rubber trees and mangoes preserved ranks second in the world. The amounts of important tropical crops such as cassava, oil palm, pineapple, and coconut preserved rank in the top five in the world, greatly enriching our country's strategic reserve of tropical crop germplasm resources.
