Under heavy pressure from AI spending, Amazon's cloud computing department AWS is laying off employees.

According to the Securities Times app, Amazon (AMZN.US) is cutting staff in its cloud computing division, AWS, making it the latest large technology company to lay off employees against the backdrop of soaring artificial intelligence (AI) costs. Amazon spokesperson Brad Glasser confirmed on Thursday that the layoffs are affecting multiple teams within AWS.
