Netflix's first use of artificial intelligence in producing visual effects for original series.
On Thursday, American video streaming giant Netflix announced that the company used generative artificial intelligence to create visual effects that appeared for the first time in its Argentine science fiction series "The Eternal Voyager." Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos said, "The completion speed of this visual effects sequence is 10 times faster than traditional visual effects tools and workflows," making it the first GenAI-generated final shot to appear on a Netflix original series or movie screen. He praised artificial intelligence as "an incredible opportunity to help creators make movies and TV shows better, not just cheaper."
